about Bobtown

It's kind of a long story...

(200 words or less)

BOBTOWN formed in NYC in 2008 as an a cappella group with a focus on original, contemporary hollers. Over several years, the band added instrumentation and their repertoire evolved to include bits of pop, bluegrass, R&B, Americana and gospel in a roots music mash-up bound together by a continuous thread of innovative vocal harmonies.

Bobtown has recorded four full-length CDs—their eponymous debut in 2010, "Trouble I Wrought" in 2012, "A History of Ghosts" in 2014, and their brand new release, "Chasing the Sun." Their first two albums enjoyed international radio exposure and accolades, including a feature on NPR. A History of Ghosts debuted with the #1 song on the Roots Music Report's Weekly Top 50 Contemporary Folk Songs; and in December, the band saw their CD rise to #1 on the Roots Music Report’s Contemporary Top 50 Folk Albums.

John Platt of NYC’s revered radio station WFUV named Bobtown one of his "top musical discoveries of 2013," and another reviewer said of the group: “The five members of Bobtown present a unique and compelling blend of voices and instruments that move gracefully between elegy and celebration.”
