Creating a music festival from scratch is no easy task. It’s a labor of deep and abiding love, tireless effort, enthusiasm, and generosity. There are two festivals in September that are particularly near and dear to our hearts (not to mention our apartments), and we’re thrilled to be a part of them.
On Saturday, September 9, we’ll be at the 1st annual Hudson West Festival in Jersey City. Our very own Katherine Etzel is one of the organizers, so we know how much time and effort goes into putting this wonderful festival together. And kudos to Katherine for getting us on the bill with a seriously stellar lineup, including the The Mammals, Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards, Abbie Gardner, Matt Nakoa, The Chapin Sisters, Sleeping Bee, Diana Jones, Paul Sachs, Dayna Kurtz, M. Shanghai, Amy Allison, and Tim Erbach. The festival is a one-day event in Cathedral Hall near downtown Jersey City. Get your tickets now, to see all these great acts under one roof.
The Brooklyn Americana Music Festival is the brainchild of our dear friend, Jan Bell. Jan is a tireless champion of the Brooklyn music scene, and a brilliant singer-songwriter in her own right. The BKAMF is a 4-night, 3-day festival (September 21-24) in multiple venues throughout DUMBO and Red Hook, featuring some of the best local and national Americana acts you’re likely to see. Most of the performances are free and family-friendly. Playing the festival last year was one of our favorite band memories, and we’re honored to be asked back. This year, we’ll be playing on Saturday, September 23rd at 3p in The Archway under the Manhattan Bridge. Visit bkamf.com to view the lineup and schedule.
